Michael J. Kurthy

Michael Kurthy is an award-winning motion picture marketing veteran who, over a 20 year career, has created successful theatrical campaigns for dozens of block-buster hits including: “Independence Day”, “The Matrix”, and “The Lord of the Rings”.

Mike has served as senior staff editor at four major studio in-house marketing agencies including 20th Century Fox (where he supervised the department, reporting directly to Tony Sella, President of Theatrical Marketing) on campaigns for “Nine Months”, “Romeo & Juliet”, “Aliens 3”, “The Crucible”, “Star Wars Special Edition”, “One Fine Day”, “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers”, “Strange Days” and many more.

At Warner Bros., New Line and Universal Pictures in-house agencies Mike was instrumental in strategizing, supervising and creating campaigns for such hits as “Deep Blue Sea”, “The Green Mile”, “Pokemon”, “The Perfect Storm”, “Any Given Sunday”, “Hulk”, “The Fast and the Furious 2” and “Pride and Glory” .

He began his career as an editor at Los Angeles’ leading trailer vendors including The Cimarron Group, Intralink Film & Graphic Design, Kaleidoscope Films Group, Creative Domain, Seismic Productions, In Sync Advertising, AV Squad and Create Advertising.

A 1986 graduate of San Francisco State University (BA in Broadcast Communication Arts) Mike has also received a prestigious Key Art Award for his trailer for “Akira Kurosawa's Dreams”.

Currently Mike owns Ye Olde Trailer Shoppe Inc., a boutique trailer house, for which he creates quality advertising campaigns for major and independent features.
